How do you empower students to strive for excellence and realize their capabilities?

I encourage healthy lifestyles and promote health education by delivering daily health facts in the school news. The segment, 'Needs to Know From Head to Toes by Nurse Kim,' empowers students to take the initiative in making healthy lifestyle changes. We present this information in an engaging manner, incorporating jokes, intriguing facts, and interactive segments to enhance learning.

How do you positively enhance the school culture?

Respect is a fundamental aspect in nursing. I aim to earn the trust of my students and their families by honoring their boundaries while cultivating a safe and supportive environment. Over the years, students have come to see the clinic as a haven. Each year, I redesign the clinic’s theme to create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere, ensuring that students feel safe and valued during their visits. This year, I adopted a Willy Wonka theme, using it as a creative way to engage in discussions about sugar intake and other health-related topics in a relatable manner.

What is the most rewarding aspect of partnering with our families?

The most rewarding aspect of partnering with our families is the support and trust that parents place with me, which enables me to encourage and foster a healthy and safe learning environment for their children. By working together, we empower families to take an active role in their children’s health by promoting regular attendance and positive interactions with peers, ultimately enhancing their academic performance.
